Rebecca Winnick
Medical Info

Hello! I’m Bex (Rebecca). If I am having a seizure, please help me find my Keppra in my bag so I can immediately take 1000 mg (one large pill). I need water and a safe space where I can rest, relax, and recuperate. Snacks are also helpful.
I might become confused or disoriented, and my speech will likely become garbled. In that case, you can communicate with me using yes-or-no questions.
I probably don’t need to go the hospital. The only thing they can do there is give me an IV of the medicine I already have.
I *do* need to go to the hospital if:
- I can’t find my Keppra
- I have back-to-back seizures, or symptoms persist over 1 hr
- I lose the ability to communicate
- I lose consciousness
If I need help finding my own phone, my number is 360-842-6211.
If I need to go somewhere, make sure I remember all my bags and instruments.
Story:
I had an oligodendroglioma tumor resected from my brain in 2021. I now have occasional focal epileptic seizures. They are called “focal” seizures because only happen in small parts of the right side of my brain. They are NOT grand-mal seizures, which make you go unconscious and fall down.
Seizure symptoms for me may include but are not limited to:
- Movement or weakness in left hand
- Movement or weakness in left face, tongue
- Slurred or garbled speech
- Lost ability to recall or spell words
- Confusion (but not always)
In addition to medication, the best way to stop a seizure as quickly as possible is to rest and calm down. You may notice me breathing deeply to calm down my nervous system.
Thank you for helping 🐝
